Oversteer

When the rear tires have a loss of traction while cornering, thus causing the rear of the car to head towards the outside of the corner. Drifting is actually a popular form of motor sport that originated in Japan, and is done by deliberately sending the car sideways through a series of corners. Technically speaking, oversteer is the condition when the slip angle of the rear tires exceed that of the front tires. Particularly when applying power in a tight corner, rear wheel drive cars are generally more prone to oversteer.
