Fouling

Fouling is said to happen when the spark plug tip temperature is insufficient to burn off the fuel, carbon, oil and other deposits. Fouling percolates the spark to the metal shell and hence the spark plug will fail to spark across the plug gap resulting in misfire. The wet fouled spark plugs will not fire unless and until they are replaced with good ones. Whereas dry fouled spark plugs sometimes get cleaned by bringing up the engine to operating temperature. The root cause of fouling should be eliminated prior to replacing fouled spark plugs.
